THE PRACTICE

Shaped by years of styling within the film industry, translated through floral design.

An intuitive practice guided by palette, silhouette, and atmosphere.

OUR STORY

Opium is guided by the visual. A floral practice shaped by atmosphere, intention, and how a space is experienced - designed to complement rather than dominate.

THE FOUNDATION

Founded by Amy McGrath, following more than twenty-five years working in styling within the film industry, understanding direction, brief, and atmosphere became instinctive. On set, everything is considered - how a space reads on camera, how a moment is styled to feel believable, and how detail supports the wider narrative. That way of working now carries naturally into floral design.

THE NAME

The name Opium is drawn from the poppy, and from the idea of an opiate - not literally, but as an ethos. Work that is sensory. That draws you in, lingers, and quietly entices. Something felt as much as it’s seen, designed to sit with you and leave an impression beyond the moment.

THE APPROACH

Florals are composed to celebrate the space and the occasion they are created for. Palette, silhouette, and texture are treated as compositional tools, chosen with care and restraint to complement their surroundings rather than compete with them. The intention is always balance and to amplify what’s already there without overtaking it.

THE WORK

Every service at Opium is bespoke. Nothing is copied. Nothing is applied by default. Each piece is shaped for its specific purpose, the space it inhabits, the moment it supports, and the person it’s created for. The work is intentional, precise, and quietly compelling. Designed to be experienced and returned to.
